If you need to buy farm tractor tires, then you will certainly need to take your time in finding a set that will last you a while and give you everything you need regarding quality and functionality. There are hundreds of different tires to choose from, and you will want to know what all of your options are.

Most people would agree that the size of the tires is a very important aspect of shopping for tractor tires. It can be confusing, so be careful and make sure you get the same sized tires that your tractor has right now. That way you can be sure that everything will work okay. After that, move on to other options.

With tractors that are used for farming, you will find that bigger ones can often lead to more productivity and better overall quality. Most people don’t buy different sized tires than what they currently have, simply because they think that it won’t work. While it is true that you will need to buy tires that are designed for the kind of equipment you have, you also don’t have to stick to just one size. Bigger tires can mean better and faster farming on your land.

When searching for farm tractor tires, you will also want to ask yourself the question of what kind of terrain or land you work on, because this too is an important issue to address. You need to consider this carefully, because tires are made for different purposes. For example, if you farm on generally soft soil, the choices you have in terms of tires for your tractor are fairly wide open.

If you use your equipment on land that is extremely hard or even close to being frozen, you will need something a bit more heavy-duty, such as spiked tractor tires or ones with a special tread. Just make sure you get exactly what you need for the job you have to do.

Before you go shopping for tires for the tractor you own, be sure to check out a few of my articles on finding high quality farm tractor tires and where you can get great deals on tractor tires for sale.

Whenever you first realize that your epoxy garage floor paint has begun to peel, your initial reaction may be to place blame to the product itself. I mean, if the coating is tarnishing, then it has to be some cheap, ripoff product, correct? Well, not necessarily so. In truth, this “cheap” and “inferior” floor coating normally won’t peel, dull, crack or even wear away. Most likely, if your garage flooring is having a peeling problem, it is more of a moisture problem.

Epoxy Garage Floor Paint Keeps Moisture Out…And In.

Epoxy will definitely insure the protect of your garage floor’s concrete from moisture and humidity in air, but doesn’t have any defense against moisture from under. Epoxy is made to have a seal-like ability that is able to prevent moisture from most origins from penetrating through, almost completely. For example, if oil were to drip on the garage flooring, it would not be able to penetrate through the epoxy paint, and as a result the concrete will not have absorbed it and can just be cleaned up.

Concrete Absorbs Liquids

Since the concrete for your garage floor sits underground, both its sides and bottom are able to absorb any liquids that they find there. Even if something were to somehow get to the concrete there to stain it, you’d never see the actual stain, so the primary worry is water. Unfortunately, this water that is absorbed into the concrete must evaporate. That wonderful epoxy garage floor seal suddenly becomes its own worst enemy. It’s a dual edged sword: it will keep the moisture in just as it keeps moisture out. As the water rises through the concrete, it begins to create bubbles under the garage floor paint. As the bubbles expand, they will eventually burst, causing the dreaded epoxy paint peeling.

Epoxy Garage Floor Paint Does Not Get Along With Humidity

Some issues related to your area can cause this peeling effect. Humidity, for one, can play a big role. In humid areas, everything, including the earth itself, will stay moist for quite a while after rains. This creates a large area from which the concrete will draw water. The situation is even worse if water is able to pool against the concrete in any way.

Ground Water Is Water, Too

The height of the local water table can also affect garage floor paint. The water table is, put very simply (and not entirely correctly), the top of the ground water. If the water table is high, then the ground water sits close to the bottom of your concrete garage floor, which means water is far more likely to soak through. Does your area’s soil stay somewhat moist, even when in a drought? Odds are pretty good that the water table sits high.

It’s not difficult at all to apply an epoxy garage floor coating, but if your body isn’t up to it, it can be a chore. The first thing you should ask yourself, if you plan to install your own epoxy is: can I bend over for hours on end? If you cannot, then plan either to have someone apply the epoxy garage floor coating for you, or maybe consider a different flooring option altogether.

Always Put Your Epoxy Garage Floor Coating Kit’s Directions First!

If you do decide that you want to apply your epoxy garage floor coating by yourself, then read on for a very fast rundown on exactly what you will have to do to apply your coating. Keep in mind, though, that anything you read either here, or anywhere else on the web, should be considered a rough guide only. Always follow the directions included with your epoxy garage floor coating kit to the letter. If you don’t, you may end up with a mess for your garage flooring.

Picking Your Epoxy Garage Floor Coating Kit

The first step, obviously, is deciding and picking up your epoxy garage floor coating kit. Thankfully, this is one of the few items that cannot be wrong or damaged upon arrival, so buying online is a great way to save even more money. Look for a kit that includes a DVD with instructions if you are new to these types of things. Trust me, they exist, you just have to look for them, and they’re usually not any more expensive. If you want some color, be picky. There are a bunch of options, so don’t settle, because your epoxy garage floor coating is likely going to last for decades. Although garage flooring is typically not on the grand tour, you don’t want to be embarrassed by it, either.

Preparing Your Garage For The Epoxy Garage Floor Coating

The very first step, after you have your kit, is cleaning your existing concrete garage floor. Even if there is already paint, you can still generally lay your new epoxy garage floor coating right over the top. Be sure to check the directions in the kit, though, as not all kits are designed for this. You may also get better results if you sand the original coat of paint down to the surface of the concrete garage floor before you begin cleaning.

Installing Your Epoxy Garage Floor Coating

Once you have a clean concrete garage floor, you will need to mix the epoxy part of your kit. Be sure to follow the directions to the letter, leaving nothing out. You can very easily ruin the entire kit by not paying attention. The directions are usually very easy to follow, but they do require that you read them thoroughly. Trust me, it’s worth it to take the extra time to be doubly sure. After that comes the color flakes, should your kit include them, and should you want to use them. If nothing else, color flakes will add a touch of sheer randomness to an otherwise bland color. Once everything has dried for the appropriate amount of time, you will then apply the paint itself. If you have followed all of the directions to the letter, than yours should be just as beautiful as so many other garage floors that have used an epoxy coating.

You’ve probably noticed, if you’ve been looking at all the different Quikrete garage floor solutions, that there are quite a few options, and that it’s not always easy to tell which one will be the best idea in the case of your garage floors. Everyone has a slightly different situation, so sometimes it’s hard to pick using only generic information. We’ll take a look at the various options in this article, and hopefully you will come away with a better idea of what each thing does.

High Gloss Sealer By Quikrete

This product is great for use on garage floors that are already in place, though it can be used straight on the concrete as well. It can even be used on masonry, slate, brick, pavers, or aggregate. Used over Quikrete garage floor epoxy, it will lend your floor a deep shine and give it even more protection from chemical stains. Used straight on your concrete garage floor, it will provide moderate protection from staining and cracking, but will not as comprehensive or as durable as epoxy garage floor paint. It costs only half as much as an epoxy paint kit, though, and is easier to install since it does not require mixing. If all you need is something to make the garage floor look shiny and offer a modicum of protection, than this might be it. Otherwise, read on.

Etching Stain By Quikrete

It’s important to note, straight out, that stain does not protect the concrete at all. It’s only there to add color. Quikrete does state that stain needs to be sealed using Quikrete Garage Floor Stain Sealer. Stain does look pretty neat, though, gives the concrete an unusual and interesting color, and this particular stain only requires one coat, which means the application is very fast. If you compare to the other garage flooring products, you’ll notice that the stain is very expensive, and that’s not including the sealant, which still won’t give you the protection of epoxy paint. This product is really only good for giving your concrete an earthy, old world look. Be careful not to try to use stain on treated concrete. Before you do that, you’ll have to strip it.

Clear Epoxy Coating

Quikrete states that, although this product can be used on a garage floor, it is intended to be used primarily indoors. However, if you decide to stain your concrete, this will be the best protection, indoors or out. With this product, you get a nice, low gloss look, and fairly good protection from chemicals and the elements. Unless you have stained concrete, or are offended at the idea of high gloss, the cheaper Quikrete garage floor high gloss sealer is probably a better option.

Quikrete Epoxy Garage Floor Coating

Of all of the different Quikrete garage floor options, this epoxy paint coating is king. Not only will you get professional looking color, but this also provides the best protection by far. The kit is a great deal as well, especially considering it comes with the cleaner and color flakes. Considering price and the quality of the end product, this should probably be the first thing anyone considers unless they have a specific situation that requires different treatment. However, though it is by far the most durable solution, it’s also the hardest to install.

Why would anyone want to install garage flooring? Won't it get just as dirty, and just as damaged as the concrete itself? It seems kind of futile...until you look at the facts.

Why would anyone want to install garage flooring? Won’t it get just as dirty, and just as damaged as the concrete itself? It seems kind of futile…until you look at the facts.

A few excellent reasons to install garage flooring come to mind. First off, some people just want a softer step in their garage. It’s amazing how much nicer it can be to walk around your garage when your back isn’t violently jarred with every single step, especially if you, like me, have lower back issues. A garage floor coating will also look a lot nicer than plain concrete to most eyes. In fact, many people will install something simply to cover old, cracked, and stained concrete, if not protect it from such a fate in the first place. Once you stain concrete with motor oil, transmission fluid, or brake fluid or the like, you’ll appreciate just how easy every other type of solution is to clean. In fact, most garage floor covering solutions are nearly, if not completely impossible to stain.

You’ll have to consider a lot of personal factors when you’re looking for your garage floor as there are many, many options to choose from.

The smallest type of garage floor coverings would be containment mats, and they’re really only good for catching spills or laying on if you’re working in one small spot. Of course, there are also garage floor mats that will cover the entire floor, as well as sticky garage floor tiles that can be laid out.

The most complicated, but most comprehensive solution would be an epoxy garage floor coating kit. Most of these different types of solutions are equally easy to clean and are designed to channel debris and liquid out of the garage. A simpler solution that doesn’t provide a lot of the same perks would be garage floor paint.

Regardless of your decision, there are lots of options out there. You could always pay someone to install it for you, though most garage floor solutions are pretty easy to install on your own. It really depends on how much time and money you’re willing to invest. Installing your own garage floor can be extremely cost effective, though, and even though it may seem like it’s a luxury today, eventually you’ll wonder how you ever got by with just a cold, gray concrete garage floor.

Mr Mcgee writes articles about epoxy garage floor and a epoxy garage floor coating.
