So you’ve decided to buy a dune buggy. You have had a dune buggy before, you’re new to the sport, and it looks great. It’s time to get involved and buy yourself a dune buggy. But before you get out there and buy there’s a few things you need to consider.

The first thing is to decide if you’re going to buy, or build. Now for most people that’s not an issue. It takes a lot of time and money and skill to build a buggy, it’s not something that you tackle lightly. And if it’s your first buggy you might be better buying one and getting to know a little more. Don’t build unless you’re confident.

So it sounds like you’re not building one now, you’re buying. But although there are a lot of dune buggies for sale not all of them are what you want. Here’s a few things to look out for as a first time dune buggy buyer.

First comes a consideration of your needs. What do you need your buggy to do? For example there are many who just use their buggy to cruise the streets, not that there’s anything wrong with that. But if so your needs will be quite different to someone who wants to get into the sand.

So the buggy you buy needs to be street legal. No reason to buy a buggy then find out that it’s illegal to take it onto the road. And you won’t need four wheel drive either, so rule that out. No need to spend money on something you’ll never need.

How many people will need to fit into your buggy? Now it’s unlikely you’ll be carrying four in it, but some do and you can get a four seater dune buggy. But perhaps you’d like to take your girlfriend for some fun in the dunes. If so you don’t want a single seat buggy.

And what size buggy do you want? It wouldn’t be the first time that someone bought a new buggy then found that it wouldn’t fit in the available space in the garage, and had to be left out in the rain.

What size trailer do you have? It has to get on your trailer or else you have to buy another trailer, more expense. Some buggies don’t need a trailer, for example street legal buggies, but many need to be transported on a trailer.

And you need to find out more about dune buggy lingo. Like many sports there is a language all it’s own and to fit in you need to learn it. What is a sandrail? What is a Baja Bug?

And you need to learn all about motors, because once you have your own buggy you’re going to be spending a lot of time with motors. You might know it already, but you’d be surprised at how many start in buggies with limited mechanical knowledge. You don’t need to be an expert but start learning the basics. It’s fun and part of being a buggy owner.

This may all sound a bit basic to the seasoned buggy drivers out there, but for the person just looking to get into the sport there are some basic questions to answer. Do your homework. And if you’re not prepared to build one you’ll need to find a great dune buggy for sale, and buy it, but only after you’ve sorted out exactly what it is you need.

And start saving for your first dune buggy today. Whilst it’s a relatively cheap form of motor sport it’s not entirely cheap. There are some great places to buy cheap dune buggies online, I have them on my website. But you need to get those dollars in the bank. Get started.

The Right Race Suit For The Right Racer

Every sport has its own set of dangers and list of potential injuries. No sport is completely safe –that is obvious by the number of competitors who routinely get injured and either withdraw their name from competition, or sit on the bench and rehab until they are healed.

Some sports put competitors at risk of breaking bones and suffering concussions. Other sports put more of a stress on your knees, and ankles, resulting in many torn ligaments and limping players. Other sports, however, are simply more dangerous, as participants regularly risk their lives in the name of competition.

Car racing is one of those sports that has a more serious and more dangerous side to it than many others.

Therefore, if you are somebody who participates in car racing on a regular basis, you must first learn and understand the safety measures that are essential toward being a healthy and successful driver. There are dozens of pieces of safety equipment that are created and designed to help keep drivers safe, and being familiar with them is an important part of becoming a racecar driver.

The first thing you must make clear is what type of racing you usually compete in. There are different items for different people, and different items for different types of racing. To ensure that you are taking the best possible care of yourself when it comes time to race, you must make sure you are shopping in the right aisle: the auto racing aisle, or the kart racing aisle.

If you are an auto racer by trade, then you are fully aware of just how dangerous your sport of choice is. While there are many ways for an auto racer to get injured, there is one threat that is specific to auto racing, and that is being hurt or injured in a fire. There are dozens of safety measures built into your car so as to help keep you safe while you are driving or in the event of an accident: there is netting and straps and you, as the driver, are buckled and harnessed into your seat. As a result, getting in and out of your is not always the easiest thing to do. In the event that a fire breaks out and begins to spread within your car, you need to make sure that you have a few moments to get yourself safely out of the vehicle. With a fireproof racing suit, you can afford to stay inside your burning vehicle for a couple extra moments as you remove all the straps and get yourself out alive. Without a fire resistant suit, a fire could prove to be deadly. As a result, anybody who considers him or herself an auto racer better be sure that they have a suit that will fight to protect them.

While this is the biggest issue facing auto racers, kart racers deal with a different set of dangers. Kart racers most often experience injury when they are tossed from the kart or skid out and slide into another kart or into a wall. If a fire were to break out, they would be able to create some distance between themselves and the vehicle, as there is nothing holding them in place as is the case with an auto driver. Therefore, while fire resistance means less to a kart racer, a suit that will absorb the physical shock caused from being thrown onto the concrete or asphalt racetrack is more important than it would be to an auto racer.

In the end, it does not matter whether you are a professional auto racer or an amateur kart race – in the end, all that matters is that you take the necessary precautions before ever getting into a vehicle. The right suit, built for you and your needs and protection, is a great start.
